An old man walks in. Jordan smiles at him. “Good morning, Mr. Lee!”
Mr. Lee says, “Good morning! The usual, please.”
I don’t know what “the usual” means. I look at Jordan.
Jordan whispers, “He always orders a black coffee, medium size.”
I say, “One medium black coffee, coming up!”
Mr. Lee smiles. “You’re new here, right?”
I say, “Yes, this is my first week.”
He says, “Welcome! This is a nice coffee shop.”
I make his coffee and give it to him.
He says, “Thank you, dear. See you next time!”
After he leaves, I ask Jordan, “Do we have a lot of regular customers?”
Jordan says, “Yes! Many people come here every day.”
I think, “I want to remember their names and orders too.”
A young woman comes in next. She smiles. “Hi! I’m new here. What do you recommend?”
I think for a moment. “Our caramel latte is very popular!”
She says, “Okay, I’ll try that!”
I feel proud. I helped a new customer today.
I think, “Maybe someday, people will remember me too.”
