I am in Seattle.
I am tired. My bag is heavy.
It is raining.
I have no umbrella.
I am in a taxi. The driver says something. I don’t understand. He says it again.
“First time in Seattle?”

“Yes,” I say. “Yes. First time.”
He smiles. I see his face in the mirror. He says something else. I don’t understand.
I look at the window. It’s raining.
This is the building. It is brown. It is old.
I have the address on my phone. I have the key in my hand. I have no food. I have no friends here.

The hallway is quiet.
There is a small light.
I look at the doors.
This is my door.
Small. The apartment is small.
One window. One table. One chair.
I sit on the floor. I look at the window.
I am hungry. I need food.
I need to go outside.
The street is wet. There are people. They walk fast. Nobody looks at me.
There — a light. A shop.
It smells good.
A woman behind the counter. She looks at me.

A minute. One minute. Okay. I wait.
“Here you go! Enjoy!”
She gives me the cup.
